"Sanjay Singh rang me up to say that the reports are planted", party General Secretary Madhusudan Mistry told reporters here.
Mistry's remarks came on a day when reports had it that Singh, MP from Sultanpur, could soon join BJP and is likely to be made the party candidate against Rahul Gandhi in adjoining Amethi Lok Sabha constituency.
Adding fuel to rumours about his growing proximity to BJP, Singh had on Tuesday shared dais with several leaders of the party during his birthday function here but preferred to play his cards close to his chest.
"I have not quit politics. Everything will be clear once the list of candidates for the Lok Sabha polls are released by political parties," the Congress MP from Sultanpur had said.
