SC dismisses plea against appointment of Justice Gogoi as next CJI

The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed a plea challenging the appointment of Justice Ranjan Gogoi as the next Chief Justice of India.

"We are of the view that it is not the stage to interfere (with the appointment)," a bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra said.

The apex court said that the petition was "devoid of merits".
