Scores of Muslims joined the BJP today and the party's Delhi President Manoj Tiwari attributed it to Muslim women, saying it is due to their immense trust in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A press statement issued by the party claimed that as many as 650 people joined BJP from Okhla and Ghonda constituencies along with an active worker of the Aam Aadmi Party and a JD(U) former candidate at a function here.
It said that representatives of various auto rickshaw and taxi unions of Delhi have also announced support to the BJP and about 100 auto rickshaw drivers joined the party.
"The trust of members of the minority community especially the women is increasing in the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narender Modi and as a result large number of them are joining the BJP," Tiwari said.
BJP national secretary Maheish Girri, who was also present at the function, said: "The Modi government is committed to the principle of sabka saath-sabka vikas and our Muslim brothers and sisters will get the same benefits of economic development as the members of other communities.
