Social Democratic Party of India has sought a direction from the Madras High Court to transfer four criminal cases registered by police in connection with seizure of explosives at different places in 2011 and 2012 to some other agency for fair probe.
SDPI district secretary A Mujibur Rahman sought a direction to transfer the cases registered by Pudur, Tiruparankunram and Anna Nagar police stations, in connection with recovery of explosives at different places, to some other agency or competent authority for a "fair investigation".
He alleged the two special investigation unit officials were "torturing" members of the minority community on the pretext of inquiry.
The petitioner also sought stay of investigation by the two officials till further orders.
A division bench of Justices A Selvam and P Devadoss issued notice to the Home secretary and Director General of Police, among others, and posted the case for hearing on June 10.
