The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) alleged that the proposals were "half-baked" and that "many conditions have been attached with each proposal which will be roadblocks for obtaining benefit of the spirit and intention of the proposals".
"You will appreciate that sealing is a very critical issue for the trading community as it is related to livelihood of not only the traders but even their employees and people of other section dependent upon them.
The issues highlighted by the traders in the letter include, no mention of special area, faults in policy for warehouses and godowns in non conforming areas/agricultural land and norms for rehabilitation of colonies.
"The condition for obtaining no objection certificate from the fire department for the buildings already built is a counter-productive proposition as obtaining fire NOC is difficult in the present circumstances and fire norms," the traders body wrote to the L-G.
The BJP-ruled civic bodies have undertaken sealing drive initiated by the Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee. Commercial premises have been sealed for failing to deposit conversion charges according to provisions in the master plan.
