Assam government today said it has formed a search committee to fill two vacant posts of members in the Assam Public Service Commission.
The committee comprises Chief Secretary V K Pipersenia, Additional Chief Secretary V B Pyarelal and Principal Secretary Paban Kumar Borthakur as members, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said.
Replying to a question during zero hour in the assembly, he said the search committee will also work towards bringing back respect to the Constitutional entity, which was embroiled in a row over corruption at the highest level.
"We want a reform in APSC. We want to bring back prestige and position to the organistaion. The government is very serious about it and we will see the results in the coming days," Patowary said.
The government, he said, does not have any "vindictive attitude" and will only work for solving APSC's issues, which were raised in the house by former chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, AGP MLA Pabindra Deka and BJP MLA Atul Bora.
Last year, APSC chairman Rakesh Kumar Paul was arrested on corruption charges which was followed by arrests of its members Basanta Kumar Doley and Samedur Rahman.
The then APSC assistant controller of examinations Pabitra Kaibarta was arrested after this.
