Security has been upped here in view of army officials receiving a letter allegedly from terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed, threatening to blow up residence of the collector and commissioner, police said today.
Initial probe, however, revealed that it may be the handiwork of some miscreants, they said.
The letter that was allegedly posted from this district on March 14, and was received by army officials on March 17 at the force's sub-divisional headquarters.
According to SSP J Ravinder Goud, initial probe suggested that some miscreant might have done this to trigger panic among people. However, adequate security arrangements have been put in place to prevent any untoward incident.
The probe into the incident has been handed over to the Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) and the security has been heightened at residence of the collector and commissioner, and crowded public places like roadways bus stand and railway station, he said.
The writer of the letter blamed the district police for his state of penury.
The letter also threatened to make a video of the Police Commissionerate and the residence of the DM, with a purpose to send it to Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed through email.
The video of army area will also be recorded soon, it said.
