The security personnel of Odisha's Special Operation Group (SOG) and Maoists exchanged fire at a reserve forest in Kalahandi district on Wednesday, police said.
Gelatin sticks, detonators and bombs have been seized from the spot of the encounter that took place on the eve of the Independence Day, Kalahandi district SP Battula Gangadhar said.
"Some ultras might have sustained injuries as blood stains have been spotted at the encounter site in Gundi Reserve Forest," the SP said.
He said the Maoists escaped from the spot during the encounter and combing operation has been intensified in the area.
