Traders said adequate stocks position in the market after the government took measures to curb rising prices and fall in demand from retailers at current levels, kept pressure on gram and few other pulses prices.
Meanwhile, India is exploring the possibility of importing pulses from Afghanistan to boost domestic supply and control retail prices that have soared up to Rs 200 per kg.
India has imported over 7 lakh tonnes of pulses during April-May of this fiscal to meet domestic demand.
In the national capital, gram, gramdal local and best quality met with resistance at prevailing levels and declined by Rs 100 each to Rs 8,800-9,300, Rs 9,000-9,200 and Rs 9,300-9,400 per quintal, respectively.
Masoor small and bold followed suit and shed Rs 50 each to Rs 6,250-6,550 and Rs 6,300-6,600 per quintal. Its dal local and best traded lower by a similar margin to Rs 6,750-7,250 and Rs 6,850-7,350 per quintal respectively.
