Select pulses remain lower on sluggish demand

Select pulses, led by gram, extended losses for the second straight day and prices drifted lower by up to Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale pulses market today as demand from retailers eased against sufficient stocks position.
Traders said fall in demand from retailers against adequate stocks position on increased supplies in the market after the goverment took steps to curb prices, kept pressure on gram and a few other pulses prices.
Meanwhile, India has signed a memorandum of understanding with Mozambique to import 3,75,000 tonnes of pulses during 2016-19.
Government yesterday directed state-run MMTC to import further 30,000 tonnes of tur and urad for the buffer stock, which is being sold in the open market at a highly subsidised rates to provide relief to consumers.
In the national capital, gram, gramdal local and best quality were down by Rs 100 each to Rs 8,000-8,200, Rs 8,400-8,600 and Rs 8,700-8,800 per quintal respectively.
Urad and its dal chilka local also remained under pressure fell further Rs 100 each to Rs 8,900-10,300 and Rs 9,100-9,200 per quintal respectively.
Its dal best quality and dhoya followed suit and enquired lower by a similar margin to Rs 9,200-9,700 and Rs 9,600-9,900 per quintal respectively.
In line with overall trend, peas white and green moved down by Rs 100 each to Rs 3,700-3,725 and Rs 3,900-4,000 per quintal respectively.
Moth too finished lower by Rs 50 to Rs 5,150-5,550 per quintal.

Masoor small Rs 6,000-6,200, bold Rs 6,050-6,250, Dal Masoor local Rs 6,450-6,950, best quality Rs 6,550-7,050, Malka local Rs 7,100-7,400, best Rs 7,200-7,500, Moth Rs 5,150-5,550, Arhar Rs 7,700, Dal Arhar Dara Rs 10,500-12,200.
Gram Rs 8,000-8,200, Gram dal (local) Rs 8,400-8,600, best quality Rs 8,700-8,800, Besan (35 kg), Shakti Bhog Rs 3,720, Rajdhani Rs 3,720, Rajma Chitra Rs 5,300-6,450, Kabuli Gram small Rs 9,900-10,300, Dabra Rs 2,700-2,800, Imported Rs 4,700-5,100, Lobia Rs 5,400-5,600, Peas white Rs 3,700-3,725 and green Rs 3,900-4,000.
