In a move aimed at stepping up pressure on BJP led government, Shiv Sena, an ally in the ruling front today joined hands with independent MLA Bacchu Kadu's organisation Prahar to raise farmers' issues in wake of demonetisation.
Kadu today met Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray to discuss ways to build pressure on the government to ease hardships caused to farmers due to demonetisation.
A close aide of Uddhav, said, "Shiv Sena needs an aggresive leadership in Vidarbha to counter BJP while Kadu needs a party like Shiv Sena. Hence alliance between the two is considered significant for the ensuing civic body polls in Vidarbha."
The Shiv Sena office bearer said, "Due to demonetisation farmers are facing hardships as they are not getting good price for their produce but still the government is showing as if everything is fine."
Kadu told PTI that "Orange, cotton, soyabean farmers are not getting good price for their crop as traders are not coming forward to procure them due to shortage of cash supply."
He said, "We discussed how we can protest against this and keep the heat on the government to take urgent steps to mitigate the problems."
Kadu said, Uddhav Thackeray had responded positively to his suggestion. "I will now prepare a proposal of what needs to be done to ease hardships of farmers and discuss it with Uddhavji. He will then instruct Shiv Sainiks in all districts to take up the issue at local level in association with my organisation Prahar, which works for farmers welfare in Amravati, Chandrapur, Wardha, Akola districts," he said.
Kadu, an independent MLA from Achalpur in Amravati district is supporting the Devendra Fadnavis government. "I am giving political support to the government and that does not mean I shouldn't protest against anything done by it," he said.
