Senior IAS officer accused of graft remanded to 5-day police custody

Senior IAS officer Ashok Singhvi, who was arrested today, was remanded to five-day police custody along with and seven others, including two senior officials of his department, in connection with case of alleged graft against them.
The accused were produced before a court in Udaipur where the magistrate remanded them to police remand for five days.
DG-ACB Navdeep Singh said that that all the eight accused were being brought to Jaipur where they will be interrogated.
Five persons were arrested yesterday while ACB placed three others, including the Principal Secretary, Mines, Ashok Singhvi, under arrest today in the alleged bribery case which involves bribe amount of Rs. 2.55 crore.

Additional Director- Mines (HQ) Pankaj Gehlot, Chartered Accountant Shyam Singh Singhvi and alleged middleman Sanjay Sethi were arrested in Udaipur while Senior Mining Engineer P R Ameta and one Rashid were arrested in Bhilwara yesterday.
After the involvement of Singvi came to light, an ACB team had detained him in Jaipur last night and arrested him in the wee hours of today after conducting raids at his house.
177 expensive liquor bottles were seized from the house of Singhvi for which a separate case under Excise Act was registered with Ashok Nagar police station.
