Senior ICC officials visit Mumbai police crime branch office

Two senior officials of the International Cricket Council's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit today paid a courtesy visit to the office of Mumbai Police Crime Branch which has been probing the IPL betting scandal, a police officer said.
Alan Peacock and N S Virk, two senior officials of ICC's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit, met crime branch officials today, the police officer told PTI.
"They may make an official visit in a few days and might seek details of Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf's role in the betting case," the official said.
Asad Rauf, who was a member of the ICC elite panel of umpires and 15 alleged bookies from Pakistan have been named as "wanted accused" in the 11,500-page chargesheet filed in a Mumbai Court.
Gurunath Meiyappan, BCCI President N Srinivasan's son- in-law and former Chennai Super Kings Team Principal, had been arrested and chargesheeted on September 21, along with actor Vindoo Dara Singh and 20 others by the Mumbai police in the IPL betting case, four months after the scandal rocked the cricketing world. They were charged with forgery, cheating and criminal conspiracy, among other offences.
