Senior railway officer attacked in office by porter

A senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) of Central Railway posted here was allegedly assaulted by a porter in his office today, a senior railway officer said.
Sumant Deulkar, DCM, Nagpur division, was attacked in his chamber by Pankaj Wasnik, a luggage parcel porter in Group D, said PRO Pravin Patil.
Deulkar sustained injuries on his ears and was taken to Central Railway Hospital.
Wasnik was overpowered by staff and handed over to police. Sadar Police have registered a case against Wasnik under relevant sections of IPC.
Patil said departmental action will be taken against Wasnik.
It could not be ascertained immediately what was the provocation for the attack.
