"We demand that a Special Investigation Team appointed by the apex court be formed to re-investigate the cases of 1984 riots. For this, DSGMC and Shiromani Akali Dal members will soon meet Chief Justice of India," DSGMC president Manjit Singh G K told a press conference.
"Besides, we will also write to the President of India in this regard," he said.
Referring to Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi's remarks during an interview that some Congressmen were probably involved in the 1984 riots, he said the remarks had cause discomfort and pain amongst the Sikh community, especially large number of families whose members were killed and injured by mobs and properties burnt and looted.
"DSGMC and Akali Dal have decided to stage protest outside Congress headquarters against Rahul Gandhi's remarks on the 1984 riots tomorrow. The protest will begin at 11.30 AM onwards," Singh said, adding that case of missing charge sheet against Congress leader Sajjan Kumar from Nangloi police station should also be produced before the court.
12,000 innocent Sikhs were killed in the riots across the county and 3,000 in the national capital, he said, and claimed that very few persons were punished for the 1984 riots.
