The bus was on its way from Vikasnagar to Tyuni when the mishap occurred this afternoon, Chakrata SDM Ashok Kumar Pandey said.
Prima facie it appears that the driver of the bus lost control on the vehicle and it plunged into a 150-metre deep gorge, killing seven persons on the spot, he said, adding the exact cause of the accident however is yet to be ascertained.
Seventeen persons who sustained injuries in the mishap have been pulled out of the damaged bus and admitted to a nearby hospital, Pandey said.
