Seven school children, who were part of a 50-member group that had gone to NASA on a 10-day educational tour, are yet to return even as the trip is over.
According to the schools, Karanjot Singh, Manveer Singh, Sahil Kalra, Harpreet Chaddha, Ranjeet Singh, Jaskaran Singh, and Lavdeep Singh were not part of the group since April 18, three days before the team was scheduled to depart.
Monika Khanna, principal of Shahkot branch of State Public School where Ranjeet, Jaskaran and Lavdeep are enrolled, told PTI that the school has not lodged any police complaint here, though it has registered a report with New Jersy Police.
She said they are not sure whether the students went missing or stayed back.
"We informed parents of all seven children. But we were surprised to see that they reacted normally," Monika said.
Khanna said if the exact picture is presented before it, the school will help locate the children, whose visa duration will be expiring by third week of May.
She claimed that she even tried to convene a meeting with the parents, but they refused to come.
Khanna said the school is in touch with the US administration, which says any action on their part will be taken only after the visa duration gets over.
R S Pawar, principal of State Public School's Nakodar branch where Manveer, Sahil and Harpreet are studying, said the parents have been informed about the situation in the US in backdrop of Boston bombings, and advised them to immediately ensure their wards' return if they are aware of their whereabouts.
Meanwhile Kamal Jeet, mother of Harpreet who is among the students who did not return, told PTI that her son called her from the US and said "he will come back in few days".
When told her son might land in trouble as the vigilance has been beefed up there in wake of Boston bombings, she said she would ask Harpreet to return soon.
