The award will be presented to Karun at the opening ceremony of the Kolhapur International Film Festival (KIFF), being organised by Kalamaharshi Baburao Painter Film Society, on December 22, a release said.
Past recipients of the award include Shyam Benegal (2013), Rajdatta (2014) and Girish Kasaravalli (2015),it said.
A retrospective of three award-winning films of Karun, who garnered a number of national and international honours for his movies, including iconic film 'Piravi', would also be screened during the eight-day festival, which will conclude on December 29.
