The second phase of the work on the Ghat road would begin in September when the road would have to be closed again, he told reporters after inspecting the work yesterday.
The remaining works in the first phase would be over in a few days he said. The installation of sign boards, crash barriers and other minor works were in progress.
He said 11.77 km stretch of road had been 'concretised' at a cost of Rs 69.90 crore in the first phase.
Of this 12.38 km would be laid with concrete and the remaining 21 km tarred, the minister said.
The Shiradi Ghat was closed for traffic on January 1 this year for upgradation works.
