Shiv Sena city unit president Santosh Dhawale and his associates allegedly vandalised the Government Medical College dean's office today.
The dean, Anand Dongre, was on his way to his office when he was told about the vandalism allegedly committed by Santosh Dawale and his associates, in protest against the lack of sanitation and other facilities in the medical college's paediatrics ward.
Dongre summoned the police who reached the medical college and brought the situation under control.
"I have lodged a police complaint at the city police station against Santosh Dawale and others," Dongre said, adding that the police had launched a manhunt after registering an offence under Sections 353, 186, 504, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code IPC against Dawale and others.
Meanwhile, one Prakash Bhalerao of Gokul Ghodegaon village of Mahur tehsil in Nanded district also filed an FIR against medical college authorities for causing ant bites to his new born child who was admitted to the hospital.
He alleged that his new born child was bitten by ants in the hospital due to the lack of proper facilities and even after a complaint was made to Medical Superintendent Kishore Ingole, nothing has been done to rectify it.
"We are investigating the matter and only after verifying facts, an arrest will be made," Superintendent of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma said.
In a related development, Class 3 and Class 4 employees including nurses submitted a memorandum to the dean and other district authorities for protection while on duty.
In fact, nurses were on strike and they called off their strike and returned to duty only by today.
