One more police personnel was arrested today by the Special Investigation Team in connection with the alleged custodial death of a 26-year-old man at nearby Varappuzha, taking the number of those detained so far to four.
Suspended Sub-Inspector Deepak of Varappuzha was arrested by the SIT after being interrogated for more than eight hours, a top police officer said.
Earlier, three members of Rural Tiger Force (RTF) were arrested two days ago in connection with the death of S R Sreejith on April 9 at a hospital after he was taken into custody in connection with a case. They have also been suspended.
A total of seven policemen have been suspended so far.
Ernakulam Rural SP A V George has dismantled the RTF squad following the custodial death of Sreejith, who was taken into custody for the death of one Vasudevan early this month.
