Two of the four-member special investigation team formed by the Calcutta High Court to probe the murder of an independent panchayat member in Birbhum district today met his family members.
DSP CID Sankarprasad Bhattacharya and CID Inspector Tirthankar Sanyal who went to Bandnabagram village near Santiniketan to meet the family members spent around one and half hours in Ghosh's house.
The officers did not comment on the progress of investigation.
The SIT officers also met the investigating previous officer Biswajit Chatterjee at Suri and received the case diary and other documents.
The High Court had yesterday formed a four-member special investigation team to investigate the killing and file an interim report after a fortnight.
The High Court had on December 23 ordered the CID to investigate murder charges against Birbhum district Trinamool Congress president Anubrata Mondal and 40 others, accused in the killing of Ghosh after the panchayat polls.
He was shot on July 21 last year at his home and succumbed to his injuries at a hospital two days later.
Ghosh had won a seat in the panchayat polls as an independent after being denied a ticket by the Trinamool Congress.
