Curfew was imposed today in areas under Lalpora police station in apprehension of protests after Friday prayers in Lolab Valley, where an encounter took place a few days ago in which seven terrorists were killed.
Minister of State for Home Sajad Ahmed Kichloo informed this in the state Assembly.
He said the District Magistrate of Kupwara has imposed restrictions in other parts of the district to ensure maintenance of law and order, safeguard life and property and avoid any untoward incident.
The overall situation in the district was under control, he said, adding the situation in other parts of the Valley was normal.
