Six ACB sleuths killed, three injured in road accident

Six Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths, including two police inspectors, were killed and three others injured when their jeep rammed into a tree near Kamargaon on Karanja-Amravati road in wee hours today, police said.
The mishap occurred at around 5 AM when the ACB personnel were returning to Amravati to attend the Maharashtra Day function from Shirpur Jain village in Washim district where they had gone to conduct searches at the residences of five accused held in a bribery case of Rs seven lakh, they said.
The driver of the ill-fated Tata Sumo jeep lost control of the vehicle following which it rammed into a roadside tree and an electric pole nearby.
The deceased were identified as - police inspectors Anil Rajankar (52, Sangrampur in Buldhana district) and Satish Mawal ( 40, Buldhana), and constables Rajendra Deshmukh (48, Saroj Colony, Amravati), Anil Rewalkar (52, Kewal Colony, Amravati), Pradeep Bhujade (44, Shriramnagar, Amravati) and Pramod Kale (38, Congressnagar, Amravati).
Two of three injured were hurt seriously. While Ashok Salunke has been shifted to Sawadekar hospital here, Avinash Kokate, who is stated to be critical, has been admitted to Wockhart Hospital in Nagpur.
One of the injured was discharged after being provided first aid, police added.
