Snapdeal appoints Pradeep Desai as SVP Engineering

E-commerce major Snapdeal has appointed Pradeep Desai as Senior Vice President (Engineering).
In his new role, Desai will be responsible for spearheading a team that builds innovative logistics interventions, Snapdeal said in a statement.
The former Groupon executive has been at the forefront of building many industry-first technology enabled logistics solutions in his over 14 years of experience, it added.

UpGrad acqui-hires Pyoopil
* UpGrad, the online education provider for working professionals, has acqui-hired Pyoopil Education Technologies, a move aimed at tapping into the over USD one billion corporate training market in India.

Pyoopil offers a mobile-based SaaS (Software as a service) product used by corporates to deploy online training programs to be consumed by their employees on the go.

"With this acquihire, UpGrad is venturing into the USD 1 billion-plus corporate training market in India and expects to build a USD 100 million revenue business in the next 5 years," it said in a statement.
UpGrad was founded in early 2015 by Ronnie Screwvala, Mayank Kumar, Phalgun Kompalli and Ravijot Chugh with an aim to empower working professionals and individuals.

BeatRoute raises pre-series A funding from Quarizon
*BeatRoute Innovations, an enterprise SAAS mobile app platform, today said it has raised an undisclosed amount in funding from Quarizon, an accelerator fund.
The proceeds from the pre-series A round will be utilised towards operationalising product capability and offer an online payments and analytics platform, BeatRoute said in a statement.

The Gurgaon-based startup, which was founded in June 2016 by Vinay Singh and Vivek Gaur, helps facilitate last mile trade between consumer packaged goods companies, distributors and neighbourhood stores.
