32-year-old Simson, a jawan with the Assam Rifles, was last night taken into custody from Ernakulam. His arrest was recorded this morning here after the woman identified him, police said.
The woman in her complaint had stated that she was assaulted and verbally abused by the man, who was in an inebriated state, during the journey in the Second AC compartment of the Guwahati-Thiruvananthapuram Express on February 17.
The man had alighted at Ernakulam, while the woman, who was travelling to Thiruvananthapuram, filed the complaint with the Railway police after reaching here.
The incident comes close on the heels of alleged abduction and harassment of a popular Malayalam actress in Kochi.
