Optimistic about the experiments with Bengali music, thespian Soumitra Chatterjee today called upon the general public to support new age singers.
The legend, having shared special rapport with late poet Sunil Gangopadhyay, said, "Like yesteryear singers, who were new at some point of time but turned out to be formidable names later on due to audience backing, let today's music loving public aid and support present day singers. Only this can give rise to timeless tracks for the future audience years from now."
Soumitra supported the spree of experiments in the current crop of Bengali music including Tagore numbers, and said change of taste is always paframount for the growth of music.
The Charulata actor launched Swapna Niye, a fusion of vocal and verse on the 80th Birth Anniversary month of Sunil Gangopadhyay rendered by RupnaR Dutta, a collage of Rabindrasangeet, Nazrulgeeti, Atulprasad's songs and recitations of the Neera number of Sunil, also the cult poetry magazine 'Krittivas' co-founder.
