The South Korean government is keen to invest in various infrastructure projects in Maharashtra, including the ambitious 'Samruddhi Corridor' or super expressway project.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is on a three-day tour of South Korea and Singapore, which began yesterday, called on South Korea's Deputy Prime Minister Kim Dong-yeon in Seoul today.
"Had a very good and a positive meeting with the deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance Kim Dong-yeon in Seoul. Had a fruitful discussion on Maharashtra Samruddhi Corridor. Thankful to the Deputy PM for his assurance to help the state on this project," a release issued by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said.
The CM further said that financial collaboration involving Maharashtra, India, and South Korea was discussed at the meeting.
"We interacted on many things like financial collaboration between South Korea, India and Maharashtra and closely working on infrastructure projects. Thank you Deputy PM for keen interest in joining us in Maharashtra's development journey and promise to expedite collaborations!" the release quoted the CM as saying.
The Samruddhi Corridor is a 700-km expressway connecting Mumbai with Nagpur, the second capital of Maharashtra. The Rs 46,000 crore project, known as the pet project of Fadnavis, also proposes the development of various nodes along the expressway.
Meanwhile, Fadnavis also met Hyosung Corporation President, H S Cho, and Vice President, Industrial Materials Performance Group, You Sook Chun as part of his tour.
Hyosung is a leading chemical and technical textile company.
"The company has shown interest to invest in spandex manufacturing in Maharashtra for the textile sector," Fadnavis said.
He also met Daewoo Engg and construction Company President and CEO Song Moon Sun at Seoul and urged him to invest in the state.
