Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today claimed that his government has provided "large" number of jobs to the unemployed in a short span of time, a task which had never been achieved by any government earlier.
"Samajwadi government has provided jobs to a large number of youths in the state in a short span of time. No other government had provided jobs in such large numbers earlier," Yadav said here.
He was speaking at a programme of Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University here which was organised to hand over salary cheques to some of the 'Shiksha Mitras' accommodated as assistant teachers in primary schools.
The chief minister said that it was a "big" decision to adjust 'Shiksha Mitras' in the state as assistant teachers and that the task would be completed overcoming all hurdles.
Emphasising the importance of basic education, Yadav said that several countries have progressed on the basis of good primary education.
"Basic education is the foundation. A society and a country which does not have sound foundation cannot progress," he said, adding that more work would have to be done to give good direction to the children.
Citing various development works being done by his government, Yadav said, through these the state would achieve success and leave several other states behind.
