Speaker anguished over 'conduct' of AIADMK legislators

Puducherry Assembly Speaker V Sabapathy today expressed anguish over 'conduct' of the opposition AIADMK members who shouted slogans in the House and tried to prevent the Lt Governor from entering to present his customary address.
As soon as proceedings began on the motion of thanks to Lt Governor for his address, AIADMK legislator Om Sakthi Segar started criticising the government and the Lt Governor's address.
The Speaker intervened immediately and ordered expunction of a comment the AIADMK member made against the Lt Governor in the course of his criticisms of the Lt Governor's address.
Recalling the developments yesterday,the Speaker expressed anguish and said members in Puducherry Assembly enjoyed larger freedom, but this did not mean that they should transgress the limits of decorum. "You would have perhaps realised your behaviour on your return to your homes after the session."

The Speaker said the events had hogged media coverage nation wide and asked the AIADMK members to refrain from such conduct. He also advised the members to ponder over the fact they were not elected for such demeanour on the floor of the House.
All the five AIADMK legislators had caused a flutter in the House yesterday by attempting to prevent the Lt Governor from entering, alleging that none of the promises made by government earlier had been fulfilled and there was no point in presenting an address now.
After the Speaker's intervention, the member resumed his speech to focus on alleged shortcomings in the address.
