Speaker calls all-party meet for smooth conduct of Assembly

With the members of the opposition and treasury benches staging vociferous protests inside the Bihar Assembly today and the BJP, RJD and Congress complaining about "injuries" caused to some of their women members in "pushing and shoving" in the Well of the House, Speaker Vijay Kumar Chaudhary called an all-party meeting tomorrow.
The meeting, called before the commencement of the House proceedings tomorrow, would ponder on how to conduct the sessions smoothly.
The Speaker decided to convene the all-party meet after the leaders of both the NDA and the ruling Grand Secular Alliance approached him in his chamber during the post-lunch session with their complaints.

"It is an established norm to convene an all-party meeting to discuss things such as how to ensure the smooth functioning of the House if there is a logjam on any issue," the Speaker told PTI.
After staging intense protests inside the House during which, members of the ruling JD(U), RJD and Congress as well those from the BJP trooped into the Well with their demands, the battleground shifted to outside the Speaker's chamber.
BJP legislator Gayatri Devi complained of being injured as her bangles broke during the unruly scene that witnessed the members virtually pushing, shoving and jostling with each others in the Well.

On this, the BJP members sat on a dharna in front of the Speaker's chamber and raised slogans.

RJD and Congress members too gathered before the Speaker's chamber and shouted anti-Modi slogans.
Slogan-shouting by both sides went on for about an hour before Leader of Opposition Prem Kumar led a delegation to lodge their complaint with the Speaker. Gayatri Devi alleged that somebody threw a chair at her.
After meeting the Speaker, Kumar told reporters, "We have apprised the Speaker of our concerns and sentiments. We want action against the ruling coalition MLAs who created an unruly scene and also for the unseemly behaviour with the legislator."

"If our demands are not met during the all-party meeting tomorrow, we will chalk out our future course of action," he added.
Some women legislators of the RJD and Congress also levelled similar allegations to counter the charge of the BJP MLA.
RJD member Prema Choudhary said, "It was the BJP MLAs who threw the chair at her and used unparliamentary language when they stormed into the well in the post-lunch session. One BJP member caught hold of my hand and pushed and shoved me, the signs of which could be seen on my hand."
RJD members Ejaya Yadav, Rekha Devi and Congress MLA Bhavna Jha urged the other members to respect the dignity of the House.
