This information was shared in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha by Minister of State for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Sanwar Lal Jat, in response to a question about Rajasthan's share of water from Okhla Barrage.
The Upper Yamuna River Board (UYRB) which monitors the sharing of Yamuna river water in upper Yamuna states has informed that Rajasthan is not receiving its agreed share of Yamuna water from Okhla barrage.
He said there were a number of reasons including that Haryana is yet to intimate its concurrence for Rajasthan's project proposal 'Yamuna Water Prrigation project, district Bharatpur' for utilisation of its share of Yamuna water from Okhla of 1,281 cusecs during the monsoon season.
He said in a meeting of UYRB in July 2012 , officers of Haryana and UP were requested to carry out joint inspection of Gurgaon canal at regular intervals along with officers of Rajasthan.
"Haryana has informed UYRB that a special police post has been established at Gurgaon for patrolling of canals to stop the theft of water," Jat said in his reply.
