Chana prices moved up 0.39 per cent to Rs 4,422 per quintal in futures trading today as participants created fresh positions, driven by pick-up in demand at the spot market.
Expectations of lower production following unseasonal rains in North India too felled the uptrend.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in May rose by Rs 17, or 0.39 per cent to Rs 4,422 per quintal with an open interest of 22,230 lots.
Similarly, the commodity for delivery in April contracts traded higher by Rs 14, or 0.32 per cent to Rs 4,370 per quintal in 35,170 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions built up by traders, tracking pick up in demand at the spot market led to the rise in chana prices at futures trade.
