Spurious ghee manufacturing unit busted, one arrested

Haryana police today claimed to have unearthed a spurious ghee manufacturing unit in Hansi town, about 27 km from here, and arrested one person in this connection.
Haryana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation (HDDCF) officials had complained to the police that its label 'Vita' was being used for spurious ghee which was being manufactured and sold in Hansi and surrounding areas.
Following this, a room in Lal Sarak area of Hansi was raided yesterday and large quantity of empty tins labelled 'Vita', along with a huge amount of refined oil, margarine and various types of sealing and packaging material were recovered, police said.
One Sharwan Kumar who had taken the room on rent has been arrested in this connection, they said, adding about one quintal ghee in pouches of one kg each has also been seized and the manufacturing unit was sealed.
Officials of Food and Supplies department took samples of the ghee and sent those to laboratory for further testing, police said.
On the complaint of Ved Prakash, in charge of quality, at Vita Milk Plant at Jind, a case under Sections 420 (cheating), 272 (Adulterating), 465 (Forgery), 486 (knowingly selling goods marked with a counterfeit property mark) of IPC and under Trade Marks Act has been registered against Sarwan Kumar.
