"Shah met Wang Jiarui, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China's Central Committee today at the BJP headquarters here," the party said in a release.
During the meeting, Shah hailed Jiarui for being the first official visitor as part of the 'Visit India' year being observed by Beijing.
Jiarui extended an invitation to Shah to visit China while the duo also discussed ways of encouraging people-to-people interaction between the two countries.
A BJP parliamentary delegation led by former Uttarakhand chief minister Bhagat Singh Koshiyari had some time back visited China on a study tour and met senior functionaries of the ruling Communist Party of China.
