Sri Lankan boat abandoned off Dhanushkodi coast

A Sri Lankan boat was found abandoned at Kambipaadu off Dhanushkodi coast today, police said.
The 18-feet long boat from Thalaimannar in the island nation was found without its engine, they said.
Police suspect that atleast six persons, either smugglers or illegal immigrants, could have arrived by the ferry.
The boat had managed to reach the Indian coast despite round-the-clock vigil by the marine police and Indian Coast Guard.
The vessel has been seized and investigation is on, police said.
