SSTL appoints executives in leadership roles in UP, Karnataka

Sistema Shyam TeleServices, which operates under MTS brand, today appointed former Bharti Airtel executive Umesh Durve as COO of Karnataka circle and former RCom honcho Siraj Abbasi as COO of UP-West circle.
"It gives me immense pleasure to welcome Umesh Durve and Siraj Abbasi to the MTS family. Both, Umesh and Siraj have over two decades of industry experience and have been associated with leading telecom companies in the past," MTS India Chief Executive Officer Dmitry Shukov said in a statement.
MTS appointed Durve as the Chief Operating Officer of Karnataka Circle and Siraj Abbasi will take charge of the company's business in UP West circle.
Both of them will report directly to Shukov.
The circle COO position in Karnataka was vacant from the past few months and present COO of Gujarat Circle Ashish Verma was handling the additional charge of UP West Circle.
Durve has over 23 years of industry experience with expertise in sales and distribution, product marketing and market plan execution.
"Prior to joining MTS India, Umesh was associated with Bharti Airtel Ltd as Vice President of Market Operations," and Abbasi who has over 20 years of experience in sales, distribution management, business development in Telecom and FMCG industries "was with Reliance Communications, Lucknow as Circle Business Head, UP - East," the statement said.
MTS operates in 9 out of 22 service area which include - Delhi, Kolkata, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh (West), West Bengal and Rajasthan.
