"Government of India has set up a Standing Committee for Promoting Women in Science on March 11, 2016. The first meeting of this Standing Committee is scheduled to be held on May 16, 2016 at Bangalore," Union Minister of State for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Y S Chowdary said, while replying to a query.
To another question, Chowdary cleared no time limit has been fixed for the committee to submit its report.
To address issues relating mobility of women working in the sector from one location to another, Chowdary said the department has recently initiated a 'Mobility' programme.
The first call for proposals under the Mobility programme was made on April 29, 2016, he added.
