BSES discoms today issued an advisory, asking people to stay away from power installations like electricity poles, sub-stations and transformers during monsoon as there is a higher risk of occurrence of electrical accidents in the season.
As victims in most rain-related accidents are kids, BSES has especially asked people to caution children from playing near waterlogged parks and electricity installations, even if they are barricaded, a statement said.
BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) have also advised people to stay away from electrical installations like electricity poles, sub-stations, transformers and streetlights during monsoon.
BSES have also warned people from touching electrical appliances with wet hands and advised them to keep a 'Tester' at home.
"It is important for every one to keep a 'Tester' at home. If a switch or your house is wet, do not touch it. First use the 'Tester' to check if there is electricity leakage. Do have the internal wiring of your premises checked by a qualified electrician for leakages regularly," a BSES spokesperson said.
The discoms have also started helplines on which people can contact if they see any potential threat.
"In the event you notice any fallen cable, pole or exposed wiring, please inform 399 99 707 for South and West Delhi and 399 99 808 for East and Central Delhi areas," the spokesperson said.
