Steel frame structure gives way at Kochi metro site

The heavy steel frame structure, erected for constructing a concrete pillar of the Kochi Metro Rail, collapsed at nearby Kaloor, causing minor injuries to two workers.
Police sources said two employees of the contract company which had been engaged to undertake the work, were at the site when the mishap occurred last night. They suffered minor injuries.
The structure made of iron pipes, which had been constructed to support the main steel frame, was unable to bear the weight and tileted to one side around 9.30 pm.
Vehicular traffic was disrupted for a while after the mishap.
