Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat asked the state Excise Department today to take stern action against liquor vendors who were overcharging customers.
The action follows repeated complaints from the Kumaon and the Garhwal region.
The excise commissioner has been asked to resolve the issue without delay by making it mandatory for liquor shops to display the rate list and take stern action against those who do not follow it strictly.
Following the chief minister's orders, the excise officers inboth Garhwal and Kumaon regions have been askedto ensure that the rate list is displayed in front of the shops alongwith the number of the excise inspector concerned at the bottom so that any violation is immediately reported, the release said.
