Stolen railway parts made of copper and brass worth over Rs 30 lakh have been seized from Gaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, the police said today.
A gang of dacoits overpowered the security guard of a factory in Sundernagar area here on the intervening night of October 14 and 15 and tied up his hands and legs.
Senior Superintendent of Police Anoop T Mathew said the dacoits then broke open the store room of the factory and stolen unfinished railway parts made of copper and brass.
They loaded them in a car and an auto rickshaw and fled.
The security guard somehow managed to free himself and informed the factory owner, Harsh Agarwal, who had registered a complaint with the police.
A police team headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Vimal Kumar was constituted to look into the case. The team identified the dacoit gang and arrested two of its members, Mathew said.
Following their interrogation, the police team reached Ghaziabad and recovered the stolen parts.
A country-made pistol, one cartridge, two mobile phones and two vehicles used in the crime were also seized.
Search was on to apprehend other members of the gang.
