Delhiites had to sweat it out in the afternoon as the maximum temperature was registered at 39.5 degree Celsius, one notch above normal and slightly higher from yesterday's 38.6 degree Celsius.
However, in the evening, clouds descended over the national capital following which rains and thunderstorm was reported in several parts of the city.
The unseasonal rains caught commuters off guard during peak evening rush hour as traffic jams were witnessed on several arterial roads of the city.
Weatherman has predicted mainly clear sky tomorrow. The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 40 deg Celsius while the minimum may settle around 26 deg Celsius.
