Marketmen said stockists buying on the back of pick up in demand from retailers as well as bulk consumers and a pause in supplies from mills mainly attributed the rise in sugar prices.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 climbed to Rs 3,220-3,350 and Rs 3,210-3,340 from previous levels of Rs 3,150-3,280 and Rs 3,140-3,270 per quintal respectively on increased offtake.
Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 followed suit and traded higher at Rs 2,950-3,080 and Rs 2,940-3,070 as compared to last levels of Rs 2,920-3,045 and Rs 2,910-3,035 per quintal.
Thanabhavan, Dhanora, Simbholi, Khatauli, Dhampur and Ramala quoted higher at Rs 2,970, Rs 2,970, Rs 3,060, Rs 3,040, Rs 2,970 and Rs 3,030 against last close of 2,960, Rs 2,940, Rs 3,025, Rs 3,000, Rs 2,940 and Rs 2,970 per quintal.
Anupshaher, Baghpat, Morna, Sakoti, Chandpur, Nazibabad and Malakpur too settled higher at Rs 3,020, Rs 3,040, Rs 3,040, Rs 2,980, Rs 2,950, Rs 3,030 and Rs 2,980 instead of Rs 2,960, Rs 2,980, Rs 2,980, Rs 2,940, Rs 2,920, Rs 2,970 and Rs 2,910 per quintal.
