Sukhbir inaugurates Punjab's mechanised cleanliness system

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today inaugurated the first of its kind mechanised cleanliness project in the state and announced the same will be replicated in all five corporation cities by October this year.
While inaugurating this mechanised cleanliness project from Mohali, he said Jalandhar, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Bathinda and Patiala will be brought under this project within one and half months.
He said this project would further be launched at tehsil level with a view to making Punjab the country's most clean and litter-free state.
The Deputy CM also announced that after including five corporation towns, the newly made corporation towns would also be part of this project.
He said by the end of December all the major towns of the state would have mechanised cleanliness system.
Clarifying that their would be no adverse affect on the employment of already working safai sewaks, he said there would be proper distribution of areas in B and C roads including internal roads.
The safai sewaks will get 87 kilometer and 307 kilometer of B and C category roads to ensure proper cleanliness, he added.
He said these roads would be divided into beats so that complete mechanised and manual cleaning is ensured.
The sole purpose of launching this mode of cleanliness was to provide basic amenities to the residents of the state besides ensuring 100 per cent cleaning of streets and roads, he said.
The work to be done under this system would be world class, paving a way to make Punjab most clean and beautiful state, he added.
On the issue of cross border infiltration, he said he would speak to Home Minister Rajnath Singh and would urge him to install ultra modern gadgets on the border to check infiltration.
On claims of Chief Parliamentary Secretary Navjot Kaur Sidhu regarding discrimination with her constituency, Sukhbir refuted all allegations and said the government had incurred more than the promised amounts in her constituency while the development works worth Rs 2,400 crore were going in Amritsar.
Meanwhile, he also visited Mohali International Airport to take stock of the situation.
He also announced that this airport will also be dedicated to the people of country very soon.
