A day after actress-turned BJP leader Rupa Ganguly lashed out at Union minister Babul Supriyo for his bonhomie with Mamata Banerjee, the BJP state unit today said his "jhalmuri diplomacy" would not work when party workers were being attacked everyday by the TMC.
BJP national secretary Siddharth Nath Singh said that the Centre-state relation was an altogether different ball game and it did not exonerate TMC of the terror it had unleashed on BJP workers.
"The Centre-State relation is a different issue in a democracy. But it doesn't absolve TMC of the terror that they have unleashed on our BJP workers throughout the state. Our ideology and TMC's ideology are different and there can be no compromise with them," Singh told PTI.
"The Jhalmuri diplomacy will not work in Bengal. And the E=MC2 stands for E=energy, M=murder and C=corruption," claimed Singh.
Another cinestar and party leader Joy Banerjee said that the party MP should be "more cautious with his actions and not hurt sentiments of party workers."
Describing Supriyo as a "miracle-winner" Banerjee said, "It's (Supriyo's bonhomie with the Chief Minister) hurting the BJP workers because they are being attacked everyday by the TMC. It must be kept in mind that people do not misunderstand us and because he (Supriyo) is a miracle winner so I believe he must be more cautious."
Supriyo reacting to the criticism, said, "There is a difference between role of a representative of the central government and that of a party leader and I am maintaining the parity in my own way."
"And I am not going to beg to any Trinamool Congress leader because BJP workers are being attacked in the state," the BJP-MP from Bengal and Minister of State for Urban Development said.
Supriyo, had shared some light moments with Banerjee during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to the state and showered praise on her on Friday during a programme attended by Coal Minister Piyush Goyal.
