A villager was today killed by suspected Naxals at a weekly market in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Sukma district, police said.
The victim, identified as Podiyami Kanna, was killed with sharp-edged weapons by rebels at Errabor weekly market under Errabor police station limits, Sukma Additional Superintendent of Police Santosh Singh told PTI.
A group of four ultras attacked Kanna, a resident of Errabor, while he was purchasing items from the market, killing him on the spot.
Soon after getting the news of the incident, a police team was reached the spot and the body was sent for autopsy, he said.
A combing operation was launched in the region to nab the assailants, the ASP said.
Naxals had killed Kanna's father two years ago, he said, adding that reason for Kanna's murder was not immediately known.
