Jaan Usman Khan alias Reenu, was arrested yesterday evening around 7.30 pm from ISBT following a tip off.
A country-made pistol and three cartridges were recovered from him.
"He was living here in Tri Nagar area of Sarai Rohilla in north Delhi. He is having contacts in underworld and has been a shooter of underworld don Abu Salem. He is involved in cases of fake currency, extortion, murder in Delhi and Mumbai," Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said.
Salem later introduced him to one Aftab Bhatki, who was running Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) racket from Dubai and Karachi. Khan joined the gang and began circulating FICN in India through Nepal and Bangladesh routes, but was arrested in Delhi in an FICN case in 2000.
After being released, he moved to Mumbai and started extorting money from people in Bollywood on the directions of Salem.
After his release from Mumbai jail, Khan came to Delhi and in 2010, he was again arrested under Arms Act at Kalyanpuri for carrying illicit arms and in a case of murder of a businessman in Vikaspuri. He along with Vinod Pandit had fired on a financier Hemant Birje.
After getting bail in these cases, he never appeared in the courts to face trial and was declared proclaimed offender in three cases.
Khan also told police that he had fired upon singer Daler Mehndi and film producer Rakesh Roshan on the directions of Salem for extorting protection money.
