SVC puts JU Authorities on notice over 'malpractices' in J-K

The State Vigilance Commission today issued a notice and called for a detailed report from the Registrar University of Jammu, in connection with complaints, regarding malpractices and other irregularities allegedly committed by the varsity authorities.
SVC has issued a notice and called for a detailed report from the Registrar University of Jammu, in connection with complaints, regarding malpractices and other irregularities allegedly committed by the University authorities, SVC spokesman said here.
The State Vigilance Commission while proceeding on a complaint titled Narinder Singh Raina, General Secretary, Secular Forum, Sarwal, Jammu against Authorities of Jammu University, in which the President of the said Forum along-with his counsel appeared before the Commission and made submission that a number of malpractices, favoritism, and other gross irregularities viz appointments.
He complained that illegal cancellation of interviews for the selection of Assistant Registrars, purchasing of Medical Surgery Books, illegal order for printing of study material, embezzlement in distribution of CM relief fund, shutdown of PG courses in violation of rules, diversion of funds worth 2 crores of Directorate of Distance Education, hushing up of evaluation scam in Directorate of Distance Education, the spokesman said.
Other complaints included the persuasion of B.Ed & M.Ed Courses by University employees without approval, illegal withholding of University funds by Deputy Registrar, Nepotism in selection of lecturer in Department of Remote Sensing & GIS are some examples of malpractices and bungling prevailing at University of Jammu, the spokesman said.
The President of said Forum further stated that university authorities are trying to conceal and hush up their evils, and prayed for early probe in the matter, he said.
The Commission after hearing the submissions made by the President and after looking into the gravity of allegations leveled against university authorities has called a detailed report in the light of allegations leveled, from Registrar, University of Jammu, spokesman said.
The Commission further ordered to ensure submission of report by or before next date of hearing, he said.
