Uttar Pradesh government today directed the civil and police officials to take all steps necessary to ensure peaceful holi in the state.
In a video conferencing with senior officials including divisional commissioners, district magistrates, IGs, DIGs and SPs , principal secretary Home Devashsish Panda and DGP Javeed Ahmed directed for taking necessary precautions to ensure that Holi festivities are observed in a peaceful manner.
The officials have been asked to ensure pre emptive steps in view of incidents of rivalry in the recent panchayat elections and see that it does not have any untoward effect on the festivities, an official spokesman said.
Holi is a sensitive festival and necessary steps should be taken with all seriousness to see that there is no untoward incident, Panda told officials adding that even small tiffs related to throwing of colours should be resolved well in time to check any escalation.
Panda has asked for making special arrangements in areas having mixed population besides busy public places and a strict vigil be maintained on all those forcefully taking donations for the festivities, the spokesman added.
The DGP warned that no laxity in controlling any untoward incident will be tolerated and asked for taking strict action against goonda and mafia elements well in advance.
